Jefferey Michaelson, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Jefferey Michaelson, MD, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, specializes in sports medicine with a special interest in knee, shoulder, and hip arthroscopy. He currently serves as the Orthopaedic Consultant to the Detroit Tigers professional baseball team and as the team physician to Madonna University and Detroit Catholic Central High School. He attended Columbia University, graduating with Dean's List honors, before graduating Alpha Omega Alpha from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Wayne State University. After his residency, Dr. Michaelson completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. While at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Michaelson served as team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland Rockers.
Upon returning to his hometown in the Detroit area, Dr. Michaelson joined the faculty of Wayne State University. He served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery until 2007. He then joined the clinical faculty of the Northwest Detroit Orthopaedic Surgery Residency and currently serves on its Board of Trustees. Dr. Michaelson is currently Chairman of the Novi Bone and Joint Surgery Center and Board member of the Michigan Orthopaedic Society. Due to his expertise in Sports Medicine, Dr. Michaelson receives numerous referrals from across the state of Michigan. A frequently invited guest speaker at numerous State and National meetings, he is a fellow in both the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
