Todd James Frush, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Todd J. Frush MD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery including the management of fractures and soft tissue injuries of the extremities. He earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School, and his orthopaedic residency took place at William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Frush completed his training at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation under the renowned knee and sports surgeon, Dr. Frank Noyes, where he trained extensively in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, elbow and shoulder; complex ligament reconstruction; osteotomies; meniscal repair and transplantation; and cartilage resurfacing.
Dr. Frush serves as team physician for several local teams. He is the associate team orthopaedic surgeon for the NBA Detroit Pistons through his work at the Detroit Medical Center, and he provides orthopaedic team coverage for Madonna University and Hartland High School.
He is actively involved in research and education, having authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals and has published surgical technique instructional videos. In addition, he is a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.
Dr. Frush is the associate program director of the Detroit Medical Center / St. John Providence Hospital Orthopaedic Residency program and is an active member of the teaching faculty of the Detroit Medical Center sports medicine fellowship program. He is on staff at the St. John Providence hospital system and the Detroit Medical Center.
Dr. Frush creates coordinated treatment plans to provide the highest level of evidence-based care for orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries. He prioritizes the involvement of other physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers. Dr. Frush encourages his patients to take an active and informed role in their care, facilitating open and thorough discussion of their condition.
His research and clinical interests center around joint preservation/reconstruction, such as osteotomy, meniscal transplants, cartilage resurfacing, and knee ligament reconstruction.
